The Urbanists were appointed by Powell Dobson Architects to prepare a detailed landscape design to support a full planning application for a new 160 bed Hilton hotel within the historic City of York. A comprehensive heritage and context analysis set out some key design parameters which helped set the proposals in the context of the city.
A set of a principles were established, such as "create a distinct sense of arrival to both the hotel and the outskirts of the City".
The principles informed the detailed landscape scheme which received positive comments from various officers within the planning and conservation departments of the local authority.
