Cwmbran Canalside
The Urbanists were commissioned by Torfaen County Borough Council to produce a masterplan vision for the sustainable regeneration of a key site in the centre of Cwmbran. The site is located to the north west of the town centre focused around the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.
The masterplan proposes an exciting development framework and mix of uses focused around a proposed new canal basin.
The proposed canal basin will form an important destination point on the canal corridor, a new ‘quarter’ to the town centre and will improve the link between the town centre and the west of Cwmbran. A key element of the proposals is the inclusion of public space which Cwmbran currently lacks. This is complemented by new cultural facilities, bars/restaurants and residential development.
