Design & Access Statements in Wales

The Future of Design and Access Statements in Wales: Retain, Reject or Refine?

The Urbanists are leading the research in collaboration with Cardiff University School of Planning and Geography and Keith Bright Consultants on behalf of the Welsh Government.  This important research forms part of a wider review of aspects of the planning process in Wales.

Using questionnaires, workshops and interviews the research will consider:

Delivery: How DAS are produced, interpreted and used, and the impact they have on shaping the design process or development outcomes.

Complexity: Whether DAS are being interpreted properly and whether they are creating delays or efficiencies in the planning process.

Duplication: Whether there are other aspects of the regulation or development process that seek to achieve the same objectives as DAS or that might be better placed to do so.

If you are involved in commissioning, preparing or using design and access statements in Wales, you have the opportunity to input into a review of design and access statement requirements based on your experience.  To take part in this important research for Welsh Government please click on the following link that will take you to an online survey: http://surveys.cplancu.info/index.php?sid=69729&lang=en

The Urbanists will be reporting their findings and recommendations to the Welsh Government in September.
