Circuit of Wales Approved
On 25th September 2013, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council issued a decision notice and Section 106 Agreement approving the outline application for the Circuit of Wales project which The Urbanists submitted on behalf of the Heads of the Valleys Development Company earlier this year.
The £400 million project has the potential to transform the South Wales Economy by virtue of the additional employment and investment that the world class circuit will draw into the sub region.
The Urbanists were responsible for coordinating a multidisciplinary team of consultants to produce the planning application and the associated Environmental Impact Assessment. The application was submitted in the middle of February 2013. The Council resolved to approve the application subject to a Section 106 Agreement on 10th of July and although Welsh Government issued a Holding Direction at the end of July, the close collaboration with the Council enabled the S106 and Decision Notice to be issued in under 8 months from the submission of the application.
